DVD CRIKVENICA 1

Uz to vozilo do 1945. godine drustvo se oprema i s dvije Bergamijeve vatrogasne strcaljke ( 70 KS 1800 l / min i 20 KS 1000 l / min ).

We find the first traces of organized firefighting in the area of today's City of Crikvenica on September 16, 1913. On that day, a session of the Municipal Council in Crikvenica was held, and the conclusion of that session was the decision to move into the process of establishing the Crikvenica Volunteer Fire Company. The reason for that decision was the fire of the then "Slavija" hotel, which happened a few days before the holding of that session, and which almost turned into a catastrophic fire for the place. Fortunately, there was a ship of the Austrian Navy in the port of Crikvenica, whose sailors managed to prevent the fire from spreading. The founding committee of DVD is also assisted by Mirko Kolaric, the then secretary of the Croatian-Slavonic Fire Association, who for this reason is staying in Crikvenica on one occasion. The company was finally founded on October 17, 1913, and on February 16, 1914. the "permanent management board" of the Company was elected and the registration of all members of the Company was completed. Unfortunately, we do not have documents from that period that would reveal the name of the first president and commander of the Society, but we know that Frane Skiljan was elected as the first secretary of the Society. From February 1914 to May 1934, we do not find any documents from which we could seriously talk about the history of the Society. In May 1934, Mate Župan was elected president of the society, and two years later, Josip Car - Guslan, who held this position for many years. Roko Car Zan was elected commander in 1934. As a commander, Roko Car stood out, both operationally (bus and gas station fire in 1937) and in the organization of the society's work (celebration in 1954) until 1967, when he stopped active operational work and was elected honorary the commander of the Society. The Society purchased its first fire engine in 1936 for 248,000 dinars. It was a gasoline-powered Sauer with a 65-horsepower engine and 1,200 liters of water. In addition to this vehicle, until 1945, the company was equipped with two Bergami fire sprinklers (70 HP 1800 l/min and 20 HP 1000 l/min). At the end of the operational work in the Roka Cara Society, Ivan Hrelja becomes the commander, who successfully performs this function until 1992, when he retires from operational retirement and becomes the honorary commander of the Society. Since its formation, the Society has had problems with the construction of the fire station, which was located in several locations in the City. In the beginning, it was located on the site of today's fire station in Vinodolska street. With the capitulation of Italy in 1943, the Society moved to the camp on Friday near the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, where the Italian army had been camped. Finally, in the seventies, the Society returns to its original location and restores the old fire station. The company is financially almost independent from the city authorities, with the exception of wartime, since it earns its own money through water transportation, fire service, and the provision of various services to the city and the population outside the scope of the fire service, such as washing unpaved city streets, which avoided excessive dusting that is a consequence of traffic, services related to holding speedway races in the city. During the Second World War, there was a big problem of fuel shortages, but the local and state authorities saw the importance of the Society, and fuel was always delivered in sufficient quantities. In addition to good cooperation with local and central authorities, the company also fosters cooperation with neighboring firefighting companies. Cooperation with DVD Krk resulted in the formation of the Fire Association of the Municipality of Krk - Crikvenica, and later DVD - and Novi Vinodolski and Kraljevica joined that Association. Notable cooperation was achieved with the DVDs Susak, Senj, Delnice, Bakar, Hreljin, and the newly created DVD Bribir. In addition to cooperation with these companies, we should highlight the friendly ties with DVD Botinec and our foreign friendships with firefighters from Hallein in Austria and colleagues from Liege in Belgium. With firemen from Trajstof (Die freiwilige Feuerwehr Trausdorf) from Gradisc, Austria, 30.05.1997. year, the "Charter on fraternization" was signed, permanently consolidating our previous ties. Until 1984, the Society exclusively took care of fire protection in the area of the City.
