DVD SUPETAR
Dobrovoljno vatrogasno društvo "Supetar" osnovalo je dvadesetak entuzijasta, među kojima je bilo zidara, težaka, klesara, radnika i činovnika 1951.godine kao prvo vatrogasno društvo na otoku Braču. Prava revitalizacija Društva pokrenuta je 1994. godine, a prvi značajniji tehnički napredak DVD postiže 1997. godine kada je u suradnji sa prijateljima vatrogascima iz Engleske pokrenuta tzv. "Operacija Florijan" kroz koju se Društvo opremilo prvim pravim navalnim vatrogasnim vozilima i brojnom ostalom vatrogasnom tehnikom. U šezdeset godina postojanja kroz Društvo je prošlo gotovo tri stotine ljudi. Zahvaljujući ljubavi prema vatrogastvu koja se prenosila s oca na sina u mnogim supetarskim obiteljima česti su primjeri da su gotovo svi muški članovi pripadnici Društva. DVD "Supetar" danas broji preko stotinu članova od kojih je četrdesetak aktivnih vatrogasaca educiranih kroz vlastiti program školovanja u kojem se velika pažnja posvećuje upravo edukaciji mladih vatrogasaca koji uz pomoć profesionalaca i iskusnijih članova stječu znanja i vještine neophodne za sudjelovanje u svim aktivnostima DVD-a. Osim osnovne zadaće, protupožarne zaštite na području čitavog otoka, DVD Supetar ima i vrlo važnu ulogu u otočnoj zajednici poklanjajući posebnu pozornost radu s djecom i edukaciji mladih te humanitarnom radu.
The voluntary fire brigade "Supetar" was founded by about twenty enthusiasts, among whom were masons, farmers, stonemasons, workers and clerks in 1951 as the first fire brigade on the island of Brač. The real revitalization of the Society was started in 1994, and the first significant technical progress of the DVD was achieved in 1997, when in cooperation with friends firefighters from England, the so-called "Operation Florian" through which the Company was equipped with the first real naval fire trucks and numerous other firefighting equipment. In the sixty years of its existence, almost three hundred people have passed through the Society. Thanks to the love for firefighting that was passed from father to son in many Supetar families, there are frequent examples that almost all male members are members of the Society. DVD "Supetar" today has over a hundred members, of which about forty active firefighters are educated through their own training program in which much attention is paid to the education of young firefighters who with the help of professionals and more experienced members acquire knowledge and skills necessary to participate in all DVD activities. . In addition to the basic task of fire protection in the entire island, DVD Supetar has a very important role in the island community, paying special attention to work with children and youth education and humanitarian work.
