DVD KOLAN
Dobrovoljno vatrogasno društvo Kolan osnovano je 23.12.2006. godine na inicijativu i poticaj čelništva Općine Kolan, a u skladu s proklamiranom vatrogasnom praksom oslanjanja protupožarne zaštite na dragovoljnom organiziranju vatrogasnih društava na prostorima jedinica lokalnih samoupravi. Za prvog predsjednika DVD-a izabran je g. Ante Zubović, za zapovjednika g. Željko Šupraha, tajnika g. Ante Gligora. Tijekom 2007. iz Italije je nabavljeno navalno vozilo MAN, kapaciteta rezervoara od 1800 litara, a u međuvremenu, tijekom 2007. vozilo je pripremljeno za rad i s njim su članovi DVD-a Kolan sudjelovali u svim intervencijama na prostoru naše Općine a i šire. Od siječnja 2008. kad je na Izvanrednoj skupštini DVD-a izabrano novo vodstvo, za predsjednika je izabran g. Ivo Butković, zapovjednik g. Grgica Šupraha, dozapovjednik g. Nenad Fumić , a voditelj opreme i i tehnike g. Ivan Šuljić Ivulić, počelo se ustrajno i uz velike napore slagati temeljna struktura DVD-a Kolan, u kojoj se pokušava svakog člana vodstva, ali i DVD-a, naučiti da radi i vodi samo svoj posao, kako bi u konačnici Društvo kvalitetno djelovalo. To je mukotrpan proces koji je i dalje u tijeku. Tijekom 2008. uređena je prostorija u sklopu općinske zgrade, obnovljeno je ( izmijenjen kočioni sustav, servisirana je vodena pumpa i mehanika, i dr.) vatrogasno navalno vozilo (proizvedeno 1975. godine). Nabavljena je nužna količina vatrogasne opreme (kombinezoni, čizme, radna odjela, cijevi i dr.). Prvi put su bila zaposlena četiri sezonska vatrogasca. Tijekom svibnja održan je osnovni tečaj te su gotovo svi članovi DVD-a dobili zvanje vatrogasca, tako da se tijekom protupožarne 2008., u pedesetšest intervencija, pokazao veliki potencijal našeg DVD-a Kolan. Od početka godine do sredine rujna 2009. članovi DVD-a Kolan intervenirali su u oko šezdeset požara na prostoru općine Kolan, Grada Paga i Grada Novalje. DVD Kolan broji 50 članova, međutim, kako je uočena potreba za reorganizacijom članstva moguće je da se u određenom vremenu stanje promijeni, ulaskom novih mladih članova
Operativni dio DVD Kolan broji dvije skupine po 12 članova (ukupno 24) koje prve, u slučaju potrebe, izlaze na teren. Vozilo DVD Kolan opremljeno je za tehničke i protupožarne intervencije. Uspostavljena je vrlo kvalitetna suradnja s Vatrogasnom Zajednicom Zadarske Županije. Tijekom protupožarne sezone 2009. zaposlena su tri vatrogasca. S Vatrogasnom Zajednicom Zadarske županije dogovorena je zamjena našeg dotrajalog vozila za novije, kad se steknu uvjeti. Isto tako počelo se razmišljati o planiranju izgradnje DVD doma. Tijekom 2010. uz financijsko sudjelovanje Općine Kolan, donacije Grada Novalje, Vatrogasne zajednice Zadarske županije, Hrvatske vatrogasne zajednice te više privrednih subjekata i građana s prostora naše Općine prikupljeno je oko 70 000,00 kuna kojima je kupljena vatrogasna cisterna kapaciteta 12 000 litara, koja uz vatrogasne poslove služi i za razvoz vode za potrebe stanovništva i Komunalnog društva Kolan. Tijekom 2010. godine DVD Kolan svojim je djelovanjem, uz udrugu Suhozid, našu udrugu iz Kolana, kao jedan od pokretača inicijative za način gradnje, ali i samu gradnju Spomen suhozidnih križeva nastradalim vatrogascima na Velikom Kornatu privukao pozitivnu pozornost svekolike vatrogasne zajednice naše Domovine. Na tom smo projektu, provedenom po genijalnom idejnom riješenju g. Nikole Bašića, ujedinili sve lokalne samouprave i sve vatrogasce našeg otoka, ali i cijelu Hrvatsku, tisuće su ljudi željele doći i svojim sudjelovanjem odati počast tragično nastradalim prijateljima i kolegama vatrogascima. Pri tome smo toj drevnoj vještini hrvatskog naroda, gradnji suhozida, dokazu neizmjerne snage našeg naroda, naučili veliki broj mladih ljudi. I, u ova krizna vremena, važno je naglasiti, da je model gradnje koji je postavila udruga Suhozid i uz nju DVD Kolan, uštedio više milijuna kuna iz državnog proračuna RH. A cijeli projekt je završen za nepuna dva mjeseca, više od 3000 ljudi, 600 m3 kamena, dvanaest križeva, kapelica i dva kilometra staze, tri mjeseca prije predviđenog roka. Na kraju, može se reći da je DVD Kolan u potpunosti zaživio na prostoru Općine Kolan te da je stanovništvo prihvatilo DVD Kolan i njegov rad. Podigla se razina sigurnosti, te je DVD Kolan prepoznat kao jedan čvrsti iskaz općinskog sustava i jasni atribut lokalne samouprave.

It is a painstaking process that is still ongoing. During 2008, the room within the municipal building was arranged, the fire truck (manufactured in 1975) was renovated (the braking system was changed, the water pump and mechanics were serviced, etc.). The necessary amount of firefighting equipment (overalls, boots, work suits, pipes, etc.) was procured. For the first time, four seasonal firefighters were employed. A basic course was held in May and almost all members of the DVD were awarded the title of firefighter, so that during the firefighting 2008, in fifty-six interventions, the great potential of our DVD Kolan was shown. From the beginning of the year to the middle of September 2009, members of DVD Kolan intervened in about sixty fires in the municipality of Kolan, the City of Pag and the City of Novalja. DVD Kolan has 50 members, however, as the need for reorganization of the membership has been noticed, it is possible that the situation will change in a certain time, with the entry of new young members. The operational part of DVD Kolan has two groups of 12 members (24 in total) who are the first, if necessary, to go out on the field. The DVD Kolan is equipped for technical and firefighting interventions High quality cooperation has been established with the Zadar County Fire Brigade. During the 2009 firefighting season, three firefighters were hired. It has been agreed with the Zadar County Fire Brigade to replace our dilapidated vehicle with a newer one, when the conditions are met. Planning to build a DVD home has also begun to be considered. During 2010, with the financial participation of the Municipality of Kolan, donations from the City of Novalja, the Zadar County Fire Brigade, the Croatian Fire Brigade and several businesses and citizens from our municipality collected about 70,000.00 kuna for the purchase of a fire tank with a capacity of 12,000 liters. in addition to firefighting, it also serves to transport water for the needs of the population and the Kolan Communal Society. During 2010, DVD Kolan, together with the association Suhozid, our association from Kolan, as one of the initiators of the initiative for the method of construction, but also the construction of the Memorial of Drywall Crosses to firefighters on Veliki Kornat attracted positive attention of the entire firefighting community of our homeland. On this project, carried out according to the ingenious concept of Mr. Nikola Bašić, we united all local governments and all firefighters of our island, but also the whole of Croatia, thousands of people wanted to come and pay tribute to the tragically injured friends and fellow firefighters. At the same time, we taught a large number of young people this ancient skill of the Croatian people, the construction of dry stone walls, proof of the immense strength of our people. And, in these times of crisis, it is important to emphasize that the construction model set by the association Suhozid and with it DVD Kolan, saved several million kuna from the state budget of the Republic of Croatia. And the whole project was completed in less than two months, more than 3,000 people, 600 m3 of stone, twelve crosses, a chapel and two kilometers of trail, three months ahead of schedule. In the end, it can be said that DVD Kolan came to life in the Municipality of Kolan and that the population accepted DVD Kolan and its work. The level of security has risen, and DVD Kolan has been recognized as a solid statement of the municipal system and a clear attribute of local self-government.
