Vatrogasna i hitna služba osnovana je prema Naredbi kralja br. 14 iz 1975. godine pod odgovornošću portfelja tadašnjeg Ministarstva lokalne uprave. Potom je Ministarstvo premješteno u Ministarstvo stambenog i urbanog razvoja 1991. godine putem Pravne obavijesti br. 162. Biti vodeća služba vatrogasne sigurnosti i spašavanja, međunarodno akreditirana i usredotočena na izvrsnost u regiji Južnoafričke zajednice za razvoj.
Odjelom rukovodi glavni vatrogasni časnik kojem pomaže zamjenik glavnog vatrogasnog časnika. Postoje četiri odsjeka na čelu s divizijskim časnicima, a odsjek za komunikacije na čelu s inženjerom komunikacija. Odjel se sastoji od sljedećih odjeljaka:
Glavna dužnost operacije je gašenje požara u cijeloj zemlji putem visoko ocijenjenih borbenih vještina. Odjel također spašava ljude koji su sudjelovali u prometnim nesrećama, a također oporavlja neke ljude koji su već prošli u nesrećama poput onih koji se utope i onih koji su počinili samoubojstvo vješanjem. Odjel također osigurava sigurnost, posebno na radnim mjestima i u drugim formalnim objektima. Duties of operations department
Operation’s main duty is putting out fire throughout the country through highly rated fighting skills. The department also rescue people involved in traffic accidents and also recover some individuals who have already passed on in accidents like those who drowns and those who have committedsuicide by hanging themselves. The operation department gives excellent first aid in accidents through highly trained officers. They also do fire awareness through lectures to individuals and institutions.
Duties of Fire Prevention department
The department’s role is making sure that fire is prevented at all cost from occurring in the country by conducting activities that include lectures schools, communities and business areas on how people can prevent fire and even control it until the fighters arrive in cases of emergencies. The department also ensure that there is safety especially in working places and other formal structures. They scrutinize drawings of houses in all the towns to make sure that it was drawn well considering fire safety measures.
