Kolekcionar vatrogasnog znakovlja

Dobrovoljno vatrogasno društvo BRESTOVAC   osnovano je 1 lipnja 1946, godine pod nazivom:INDUSTRIJSKO DOBROVOLJNO VATROGASNO DRUŠTVO PILANE GAREŠNIČKI BRESTOVAC. Osnovalo ga je  12 radnika tadašnje PILANE GAREŠNIČKI BRESTOVAC koja je tada bila u sastavu DRVNO-INDUSTRIJSKOG PODUZEĆA NOVOSELEC. Osnivači društva bili su: Vjekoslav Gon ( 1 zapovjednik), Valent Križan, Antun Mirt, Andrija Svjetličić, Josip Mihaldinac, Miško Andri, Ivan Lugarić, Nikola Pilipović, Mladen Nevajda, Anton Šuprna i Božo Vekić. Prva oprema za rad Društva sastojala se od  prenosne pumpe ( koja je služila i za pranje šumskih lokomotiva)  i oko 20 metara tlačnih cijevi. 1947. godine nabavljena je prva vatrogasna pumpa češke proizvodnje “STRAHTERKA” kapaciteta 800 litara vode u minuti.

1983. godine Društvo dobiva novu vatrogasnu zastavu a daruje ju Sportsko streljačko društvo “Proleter”. DVD BRESTOVAC pomaže  društvima po okolnim mjestima, tako na primjer 1985. godine kupuje novu vatrogasnu zastavu DVD-u VELIKI PAŠIJAN. Članovi Društva dali su i svoj radni doprinos izvođenjem radova u drvnom kombinatu BRESTOVAC  i u rješavanju komunalnih problema u naselju Garešnički Brestovac.Tako je na primjer Društvo organizirano radilo na raščišćavanju terena nakon požara u Pilani 1967. godine, rušenju stare kotlovnice, postavljanju ograde oko Kombinata, čišćenju kanala za odvodnju površinskih voda. U naselju članovi Društva radili su na  iskopu kanala za vodovod i kablove električne struje za dječji vrtić, rušenju starih stambenih zgrada- kolona te uređenju sportskih terena u naselju. 1982. godine 4 člana Društva učestvuju sa kombiniranim vozilom na gašenju požara naftne bušotine kod Lipovljana.....više na stranici DVD BRESTOVAC

Voluntary Fire Brigade BRESTOVAC was founded on June 1, 1946, under the name: INDUSTRIAL VOLUNTARY FIRE ASSOCIATION SAWMILL GAREŠNIČKI BRESTOVAC. It was founded by 12 workers of the then SAWMILL GAREŠNIČKI BRESTOVAC, which was then part of the WOOD-INDUSTRIAL COMPANY NOVOSELEC. The founders of the society were: Vjekoslav Gon (1 commander), Valent Križan, Antun Mirt, Andrija Svjetličić, Josip Mihaldinac, Miško Andri, Ivan Lugarić, Nikola Pilipović, Mladen Nevajda, Anton Šuprna and Božo Vekić. The first equipment for the operation of the Company consisted of a portable pump (which was also used for washing forest locomotives) and about 20 meters of pressure pipes. In 1947, the first fire pump of Czech production "STRAHTERKA" with a capacity of 800 liters of water per minute was purchased.

In 1962, the company's operative unit took part in extinguishing a large steam mill fire in Grubišno polje, which is why it received a special recognition. In the middle of the summer of 1966, the jazz orchestra of IDVD Garešnički Brestovac was founded, in which elementary school students played. Josip Periša and Antun Šantić were in charge of theoretical and practical classes. Later, these instruments were played by adults who knew how to play, and they performed at special events in Brestovac and beyond. In 1983, the Society received a new firefighting flag, which was donated by the "Proleter" Sports Shooting Society. DVD BRESTOVAC helps societies in the surrounding towns, for example, in 1985, DVD VELIKI PAŠIJAN bought a new fire flag.

The members of the Society also contributed by carrying out works at the BRESTOVAC timber plant and solving communal problems in the settlement of Garešnički Brestovac. For example, the Society organized work on clearing the terrain after the fire in Pilana in 1967, demolishing the old boiler house, erecting a fence around the Plant, cleaning of surface water drainage channels. In the settlement, the members of the Society worked on digging canals for the water supply and electricity cables for the kindergarten, demolishing old apartment buildings - columns, and arranging sports fields in the settlement. In 1982, 4 members of the Company participate with a combined vehicle in extinguishing an oil well fire near Lipovljan.
