The beginnings of firefighting in the Dugoreška area date back to the 19th century, when on March 1, 1885, the Industrial Voluntary Fire Brigade was founded in accordance with the long and rich tradition of voluntary firefighting in Croatian countries. The establishment of this company overlaps with the development of industrial production in Duga Resa, which was a prerequisite for a sharp increase in population and the construction of workers' settlements and buildings, which were unfortunately subject to numerous fires. Today's voluntary fire brigade Duga Resa was founded on January 28, 1934, thanks to a group of advanced locals. The first board elected at the founding assembly consisted of: Mijo Brozović, President Florian Culig, commander Nikola Borovac, deputy commander Branko Blažević, secretary Janko Petrak, representative of the Municipality Dr. Alberto Longino, company doctor Ivan Ranbusek, storekeeper.
