DVD RAKOVICA
Dobrovoljno vatrogasno društvo Rakovica osnovano je 13. rujna 1953. godine na incijativu tadašnjeg direktora osnovne škole gospodina Jure Šabana. Prvi predsjednik Društva bio je Dane Radaković - Čiko. Prvi zapovjednik Ivan Rupčić-poštar, blagajnik Filip Prebeg, a tajnik Jure Šaban. Članovi društva: Petar Gašparović, Petar Rendulić, Mihovil Rendulić, Mile Sabljak - Babin, Mile Pađan, Vjekoslav Pađan, Jure Keser, Dragan Salopek, Josip Kurelac, Nikola Pavlić, Rude Jakovac- Pavlić (Savin), Mića Turkalj - Petrek, Jure Brajdić, Rude Rubčić i ostali. Prema dostupnim materijalima tadašnje Društvo bilo je vrlo aktivno, a brojilo je 50 i više članova. Bili su vrlo aktivni, ne samo u gašenju požara već i u ostalim aktivnostima. Koristili su prostorije tadašnje zemljoradničke zadruge, koju su i sami dijelom gradili tako nisu imali potrebe za Vatrogasnim domom. Negdje 1957. ili 1958. godine vatrogasci Rakovice počinju graditi kuglanu na gumbalištu pokraja tada osnovne škole - sada se koristi kao drvarnica učitelja (kod Stare škole). Rakovički vatrogasci vodili su i bogat kulturni život. Po samom osnivanju društva opet na inicijativu gospodina Jure Šabana osnovali su u okviru DVD-a tamburašku sekciju sa vlastitim instrumentima. 70-tih godina uključuju se i mladi vatrogasci i uz pomoć starijih članova nastavljaju tradiciju kulturnog života. Osniva se muzičko-dramska sekciju te sa dosta uspjeha su održavali predstave u Rakovici, Slunju i ostalim mjestima u okolici. Početkom 80-tih počinje se u Rakovici graditi Vatrogasni dom. Gradnja je sporo napredovala i na kraju dom nije sagrađen zbog niza problema. Krajem 80-ih dolazi do političkih previranja i na kraju do Domovinskog rata. Godine 2001. opet na poticaj iz Općine okupljen je Inicijativni odbor za oživljavanje DVD-a Rakovica. 31.03.2001. godine održana je osnivačka skupština na kojoj se okupilo 30 članova i izabralo predstavnike DVD-a Rakovica. Predsjednik društva Ivan Bićanić, zapovjednik Ilija Prebeg, zamjenik zapovjednika Željko Župan, tajnik Drago Pađen, blagajnik Stipe Krizmanić - Ćipa itd. In the 70's, young firefighters joined and, with the help of older members, continued the tradition of cultural life. A music and drama section was established and they performed with great success in Rakovica, Slunj and other places in the area. At the beginning of the 80's, the construction of a fire station began in Rakovica. Construction progressed slowly and in the end the home was not built due to a number of problems. There was political turmoil in the late 1980s and eventually the Homeland War. In 2001, again at the instigation of the Municipality, the Initiative Committee for the Revival of DVD Rakovica was gathered. 31.03.2001 The founding assembly was held on the 30th of January, and 30 members gathered and elected representatives of DVD Rakovica.
