U to vrijeme broj stanovnika Đelekovca raste.

The first beginnings of the foundation and work of the voluntary fire brigade in Đelekovac were probably even before the first written evidence of their existence, which was on September 15, 1888. At that time, the association was registered in the Croatian Fire Association. The founding of the society was conditioned by increasingly frequent fires that destroyed the property of the villagers. It was founded on the initiative of Stjepan Kadija and the local teacher Karl Radoboj, who were joined by other locals, and the first commander of the society was Mato Kadija. In the same year, a pouring syringe was purchased from the funds obtained from the locals themselves. Around 1900, another syringe was bought. It was of better quality because it could pump water by itself. At the same time, the first fire station was built in Šarampovo Street. Society developed and progressed more and more. All the necessary things for fire fighting and rescue equipment were procured. At that time, the population of Đelekovac was growing. The full development of society stopped in 1914 with the advent of the First World War. Most of the members had to go to war and many of them did not return. All the firefighting equipment of the members who were called to the army was put in crates and handed over to the municipality. A small number of members remained at home and were not able to continue to take care of the entire firefighting inventory by themselves, however, fires were becoming more frequent in the village and the surrounding area.

The municipality was forced to give back equipment, mainly to people who had the will and sense for firefighting and overall firefighting, but due to the war, there was no permanent firefighting. After the First World War, there were difficult years for the entire population, so even then there was no complete formation of a permanent firefighting system. On the initiative of the municipal treasurer Toma Vrban, the collection of worn-out property and equipment began so that the company could operate normally again. In a way, there is a generational change in the fire service during that time. In 1927, the society returned to full development, and the initiators of the restoration were Mijo Lovas, Ivan Đureta, Stjepan Ganžulić, Ivan Vidatić, Mijo Grgac, Tomo Škrinjar, Josip Lončar, Tomo Tinodi, Mijo Sabolić, Ivan Kadija, Stjepan Porić, Tomo Vuljak , Ivan Sabol, Ivan Lončar, Mijo Đureta and others. At the time of the renewal of the society's work, it also started with a new way of financing itself, which was parties. Mostly young people came to the company with the will and enthusiasm for firefighting. As the old firefighting equipment was worn out, and the syringes were in poor condition, it was time to repair the equipment and purchase new equipment. The society gained its full momentum in 1933 when it sent one of its members to a non-commissioned officer course in Koprivnica. He finished the course with flying colors and thus became the first firefighter to be tested in Đelekovac.read more DVD Đelekovec
