Kolekcionar vatrogasnog znakovlja

Ime naselja Margečan nesumnjivo potječe od imena zaštitnice župne crkve svete Margarete i centar je župe u koju spadaju još i naselja Seljanec, Osečka, Gačice, Stažnjevec, Ivanečka Željeznica, Lukavec, Škriljevec, Završje, Filipići, Cerje Tužno, Tužno, Lovrečan i Radovan. Smjestio se u dolini rijeke Bednje okružen prekrasnim zelenim bregima. U mjestu su ljudi oduvijek bili entuzijastični i poduzetni. Bilo je tu raznih obrtnika: kovača, bačvara, stolara, postolara, krojača, mljekara… Tako se ukazala i potreba za osnivanjem dobrovoljnog vatrogasnog društva. U svibnju 1955. godine podnesen je zahtjev za registraciju DVD-a, a u srpnju iste godine Dobrovoljno vatrogasno društvo Margečan je i osnovano. Prvi predsjednik Društva  bio je Franjo Brežnjak, prvi zapovjednik bio je Martin Đuras, a neki od članova osnivača bili su Vjekoslav Đuras, Lacković Stjepan, Zagorec Izidor, Vidaček Josip, Vidaček Mirko, Jaklin Josip, Brežnjak Stjepan, Brežnjak Ćiril, Vidaček Slavko, Lacković Milan. Od svojih ranih početaka društvo se aktivno uključilo u društeni život mjesta Margečan, Seljanca, Osečke, Peca, Željeznice i naselja Čovrani organizirajući razne proslave i zabave. Prema povijesnim podacima uspješno su surađivali i sa okolnim vatrogasnim društvima i u ono vrijeme sa Osnovnom školom Margečan. U izgradnju vatrogasnog doma Dobrovoljno vatrogasno društvo Margečan kreće samostalno 1956. godine.

U proteklom razdoblju Dobrovoljno vatrogasno društvo je sudjelovalo u gašenju nekoliko većih požara, od kojih je jedan bio i u Margečanu. Članovi društva aktivno sudjeluju i u vatrogasnim vježbama, od kojih je jedna održana i u Vidovcu. Nakon uspješnog početka slijedi teško razdoblje za DVD Margečan. Od 1965. godine pa sve do kraja sedamdesetih godina prošloga stoljeća, članovi se bore za opstanak DVD-a. Tadašnje lokalne vlasti u sastavu mjesne zajednice Radovan oduzimaju DVD-u vatrogasni dom i daju ga na korištenje firmi „Zagorjeplet“. DVD-u ostaju samo podrumske prostorije za opremu. Iako je „Zagorjeplet“ osigurao stanovnicima Margečana egzistenciju, oduzimanje vatrogasnog doma bio je velik i težak udarac za DVD sa kojim se bore i dugi niz godina. Kroz to razdoblje članovi društva gube jedino što su imali, samostalno izgrađeni vatrogasni dom, te vatrogasnu pumpu SAVICA, koja je u to vrijeme bila rashodovana i preseljena u susjedni DVD. Iako se društvo u to vrijeme našlo u bezizlaznoj situaciji, ipak je ostala nekolicina članova u dobroj vjeri i ljubavi prema vatrogastvu, te su oni i najzaslužniji što Dobrovoljno vatrogasno društvo djeluje još i danas. U društvo dolaze mlađi članovi koji sa velikom željom i entuzijazmom žele da Dobrovoljnom vatrogasnom društvu podare sjaj i mjesto koje sam Margečan i zaslužuje. Te godine, 1978. sastaju se gospodin Krznar Martin, Đuras Dragutin i Vidaček Ivan sa vjerom kako će pokrenuti društvo da intenzivnije radi i ostvaruje razultate, što im je i uspjelo. Gospodin Krznar Martin i njegovi suradnici okupljaju oko sebe članove koji i obilježavaju rad društva u narednom razdoblju.

U razdoblju koje slijedi imali su težak put, no iako bez novaca i vatrogasnog doma, uspjeli su nadmudriti sve nedaće i postavili Dobrovoljnom vatrogasnom društvu Margečan dobar temelj za budućnost. Pošto u ono vrijeme dobrovoljno vatrogastvo nije bilo financirano iz državnog proračuna, članovi su bili primorani svojim radom opskrbiti društvo minimalnim financijskim prinosima da može djelovati, te su tako svake godine organizirali vatrogasne zabave u dvorištu u vrijeme proslave naše zaštitnice župe Svete Margarete, na Margetinju u Margečanu. Dugi niz godina članovi društva navedenu su manifestaciju organizirali i odrađivali što im je uvelike pomoglo da bi društvo u tim financijski teškim vremenima i opstalo. U to vrijeme vatrogasni dom bio je u rukama Zagorjepleta sa čime se članovi DVD-a nikako nisu mirili, već sa čvrstim stavom i željom kreću u vraćanje onoga što im je oduvijek i pripadalo, na kraju krajeva što su sami članovi i izgradili. Navedeno nam uspijeva tek krajem 90-tih godina kad smo svoj dom morali kupiti od tadašnjeg vlasnika. DVD Margečan već je u ono doba imao minimum opreme koje je bilo neophodno za obavljanje vatrogasne djelatnosti. Nabavku opreme financirali su iz zaređenog novca sa organiziranih vatrogasnih zabava na Margetinje, tako su i kupili prvi agregat marke „SORA“, te nedugo nakon tog i prvo kombi vozilo „ZASTAVA 850“. Sredinom 80-tih godina snalažljivošću članova DVD-a Margečan izgrađeno je i asfaltirano školsko igralište u Margečanu. Oduvijek je DVD imao dobar odnos sa Područnom školom Margečan pa tako aktivno svi članovi sudjeluju i u adaptaciji škole, krečenjem, te seljenjem iste u prostorije župne dvorane.

Dobrovoljnom vatrogasnom društvu u drugoj polovici 80-tih, te početkom 90-tih godina priključuje se sve veći broj članova, te aktivno sudjeluju u natjecateljskome dijelu i u vatrogasnoj djelatnosti zaštite od požara. Rad sa podmlatkom intenzivnije kreće početkom 90-tih godina kad je DVD imao natjecateljske ekipe u svim uzrastima. U tome razdoblju ekipe bilježe zavidne rezultate na gradskim, županijskim i državnim natjecanjima, pri čemu treba istaknuti sudjelovanje ženske ekipe mladeži na državnom natjecanju u Čakovcu 1998.godine. Krajem 90-tih, dotrajalo vatrogasno vozilo zamjenjuje se kombi vozilom TAM 75 za prijevoz opreme, kupljeno od DVD-a Ivanec. Zbog velike potrebe za vozilom za prijevoz ljudi, 2015.godine je nabavljeno rabljeno kombi vozilo marke Renault Master, koje je financirano vlastitim sredstvima iz donacija i sredstvima namijenjenim za nabavku vatrogasne opreme. Nakon nabavke kombi vozila, počelo se razmišljati o podizanju operativnosti Društva, te se krenulo u traženje adekvatnog navalnog vozila. Budući da je DVD Margečan u to vrijeme bilo jedino Društvo u Zajednici bez vode na kotačima, uz financijsku pomoć Grada Ivanca se 2019. godine krenulo u nabavu navalnog vozila. Krajem 2019. nabavljeno je vozilo Iveco EuroCargo 130 E23, sa spremnikom vode od 3000 l, te je u potpunosti opremljeno vatrogasnom opremom.

The name of the settlement Margečan undoubtedly comes from the name of the patron saint of the parish church of St. Margaret and is the center of the parish which also includes the settlements Seljanec, Osečka, Gačice, Stažnjevec, Ivanečka Željeznica, Lukavec, Škriljevec, Završje, Filipići, Cerje Tužno, Tužno, Lovrečan and Radovan. In May 1955, a request for DVD registration was submitted, and in July of the same year, the Margečan Voluntary Fire Brigade was founded. The first president of the Society was Franjo Brežnjak, the first commander was Martin Đuras, and some of the founding members were Vjekoslav Đuras, Stjepan Lacković, Izidor Zagorec, Josip Vidaček, Mirko Vidaček, Jaklin Josip, Stjepan Brežnjak, Ćiril Brežnjak, Slavko Vidaček, Lacković Milan. From its early beginnings, the society has been actively involved in the social life of Margečan, Seljanca, Osečka, Pec, Željeznica and Čovrani settlements by organizing various celebrations and parties. According to historical data, they successfully cooperated with the surrounding fire brigades and at that time with the Elementary School Margečan. In 1956, the Margečan Voluntary Fire Brigade started building the fire station on its own. In the past, the Voluntary Fire Brigade participated in extinguishing several major fires, one of which was in Margečan. Members of the society also actively participate in firefighting exercises, one of which was held in Vidovac. A successful start is followed by a difficult period for DVD Margečan. From 1965 until the late 1970s, members fought for the survival of the DVD. The then local authorities within the local community Radovan confiscated the fire station from the DVD and gave it to the company "Zagorjeplet" for use. The DVD only leaves the basement equipment rooms. Although "Zagorjeplet" ensured the existence of the inhabitants of Margečani, the confiscation of the fire station was a big and heavy blow for the DVD they have been struggling with for many years. During that period, the members of the society lost the only thing they had, an independently built fire station, and the SAVICA fire station, which at that time was scrapped and moved to the neighboring DVD. Although the society found itself in a hopeless situation at that time, a few members remained in good faith and love for firefighting, and they are the most deserving that the Voluntary Fire Brigade still operates today. Younger members come to the society who, with great desire and enthusiasm, want to give the Voluntary Fire Brigade the splendor and place that Margečan himself deserves. That year, in 1978, Mr. Krznar Martin, Đuras Dragutin and Vidaček Ivan met with the belief that they would start the society to work more intensively and achieve results, which they succeeded in doing. Mr. Krznar Martin and his associates gather around him members who mark the work of the society in the coming period. In the period that followed, they had a difficult journey, but although without money and a fire station, they managed to overcome all adversity and laid a good foundation for the Margečan Voluntary Fire Brigade for the future. Since voluntary firefighting was not financed from the state budget at the time, members were forced to provide the society with minimal financial returns to operate, so they organized firefighting parties in the yard every year during the celebration of our patron saint of St. Margaret Parish in Margetinje. Margečan. For many years, the members of the society organized and carried out this event, which greatly helped them to keep the society in these financially difficult times. At that time, the fire station was in the hands of Zagorjeplet, which the members of the DVD did not reconcile with, but with a firm attitude and desire to return what always belonged to them, after all, what the members themselves built. We managed to do this only in the late 90's when we had to buy our home from the then owner. DVD Margečan already at that time had the minimum equipment necessary to perform firefighting activities. The purchase of equipment was financed from the money raised from the organized fire parties on Margetinje, so they bought the first unit of the brand "SORA", and shortly after that the first van "ZASTAVA 850". In the middle of the 80's, with the resourcefulness of the members of DVD Margečan, an asphalted school playground was built in Margečan. DVD has always had a good relationship with the Margečan Regional School, so all members actively participate in the adaptation of the school, painting, and moving it to the parish hall. The DVD had competing teams of all ages. In that period, the teams recorded enviable results in city, county and state competitions, with the participation of the women's youth team in the national competition in Čakovec in 1998. In the late 1990s, a dilapidated fire truck was replaced by a TAM 75 van for transporting equipment, purchased from DVD Ivanec. Due to the great need for a vehicle for transporting people, in 2015 a used Renault Master van was purchased, which was financed with its own funds from donations and funds intended for the purchase of firefighting equipment. After the purchase of the van, they started thinking about raising the operability of the Company, and started looking for an adequate naval vehicle. Since DVD Margečan was at that time the only Society in the Community without water on wheels, in 2019, with the financial help of the City of Ivanec, the purchase of a naval vehicle began. At the end of 2019, the Iveco EuroCargo 130 E23 was purchased, with a 3000 l water tank, and it was fully equipped with firefighting equipment.
